Dear friends!
A petition - the IAH e.V. made - is now online on avaaz.org! Please sign the petition so we can reach the president of the afghan parlament. Here is the Link:
www.avaaz.org/de/petition/Helf…I couldn't find the english version of it so here is the translation of our message why this is so important for us, in English (You can find the German version through the link above):
According to the constitution of Afghanistan women have the right to participate in public life.
But the reality is that Afghan women, who have the courage to participate in public life, are exposed to nasty slurs, violent assaults and even death threats and assassinations. In just the past few years, dozens of Afghan women who have ventured into the public, got murdered. Among them were journalists, politicians, women's rights activists, parliamentarians, teachers, school directors and singers.
Most of all women, who work for the interests and rights of women are involved with these problems. On 10th Dec 2012 Nadia Sediqi, head of the women's section of the province Lagham, was shot in the morning on the way to their workplace. Five months earlier, her predecessor, Hanifa Safi, was killed in a bomb attack.
We want to make us strong together against ignoring the fate of these women and take the controversial and highly topical issue in public.
500,000 votes would enable us to move the authorities to take action to ensure that the courageous commitment and sacrifice of those women were not in vain.
Afghanistan faces an important position regarding the future organization of its society.
With your signature you can assist women who fulfill their responsibility in Afghan society!
If you also want to reach the president of the Afghan Parlament, so he claims a better crime prosecution for the safety of women, then please sign that petition! fave and repost this journal! Tell your friends and relatives to sign, too!
Thank you!
(I am sure the Afghan women in danger would also be really thankful if you sign! And help to reach 500,000 signs for this petition.
